This book was spectacular in a macabre way. I agonized along with the trapped characters and cringed at the graphic dismemberment. The use of history and famous sculptures really tugged at my stomach. The romance aspect was nice but I like how the author did not try to emphasize it as much as the plot itself. I will definitely be reading his next book.

I picked this book up and didn't realize it was number 21 in the series but I found it was still easy to  read however. I was deeply drawn to the characters and the emotions that Rachael's situation evoked. The romance was HOT, however it was not the finest part of the book. The intriguing plot and relationships between the characters were so well drawn out that I could not put the book down.  I will be going back to the store to get the other books in this series. Anyone who has a love of scifi like myself will like the genetic manipulation angle the author weaves throughout this story.

As a beginning of a series, this book exploded out of the gate and gripped me with razor sharp hooks. My heart ached for Darius' plight. I loved how Beth was allowed to be a badass in her own right. Wrath's self denial and possessiveness? *swoon*.

There were moments in this book that gave me goosebumps and others that I was giggling out loud. A definite MUST READ.

Of all of the books in this series, this was my least favorite. From the beginning the chemistry was off between Jace and Clary which was the whole reason I read this series to begin with. The villain was barely mentioned until the last chapter and of all the endings possible the one chosen seemed forced.

The twist with Simon's roommate was nicely done however and I liked that Simon was written as a very real teenage boy however the good points did not outweigh the bad in this book.

Lover Unleashed by J.R Ward

I have always been a huge fan of J.R Ward. I've pushed copies of her books into the hands of my other bookworm friends insisting that they were not the stereotypical fare. So when Lover Unleashed came out I instantly bought the hardback copy at Wal-mart. This is something I hardly ever do. Mostly because I am running out of space to shove my books and hardbacks are usually more than the paperbacks in terms of money. My reading habit is pretty expensive, however I'm not huge into shoes so it all balances out.

I settled myself down in my "Reading Chair" and started reading and quickly ran into a problem. I. Didn't. Like. it. ...

I don't know if it was because I've never been too into the Payne character or if it was because Manny Manuello was also kind of a blah character. But he did not seem to fit the archetype she had started him with in the previous books.

Additionally, the fact that he turned out to be another half breed with connections to Butch? Too pat in my opinion.

But all in all this book just did not hold my interest. I am hoping that the next book will resolve the Blaylock / Qhuinn / Saxton triangle as well as get away from the creepy Butch / Vishous situation that happened in this book. I am crossing my fingers that her books go back to the characters we have grown to love. I would also like to see more interactions with Rhage and Mary as they were two of my favorite characters. Thoughts anyone?
